Release Operations Engineer (On Contract)
About the Role
PubMatic is seeking for Release Operations Engineer in the Release Operations team. You will be owning the planning and execution of software releases across environments. Closely working with Engineering, DC Operations, SRE, and other teams to ensure safe, low-risk deployments. Improving release processes, runbooks, checklists, dashboards to drive continuous improvement and tooling to increase reliability and reduce deployment issues. This role is ideal for someone who can balance speed of delivery with production stability.
What You'll Do
- You need to do Application deployment management, improve deployment processes, and ensure consistency and reliability of deployments across development/production environments.
- Managing application configurations and deployment servers inventory.
- Monitor the health and performance of applications post-release, respond to & troubleshoot incidents related to releases/operations.
- Act as a liaison between Release Manager, Operations, and Engineering stakeholders, communicate release status, issues to relevant parties, facilitate post-mortem reviews and retrospectives to identify areas of improvement.
- Create and maintain deployment procedures and related documentation.
- Setting up Linux servers, application installation, server rebuilds, cluster management, etc.
- Ensure platform support for cross-functional delivery of large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external teams.
- Ensure security measures, address vulnerabilities by doing required upgrades/patches.
- 24/5 rotational weekday shifts including night, weekend on-call support.
We'd Love for You to Have
- We are looking for 2 - 5 years of experience in Release Operations, managing CICD & Application deployments, Configuration/Change Management, secrets management, and Application support.
- Good experience with Linux/Unix administration, Shell script / Python / Ansible Automation, AI mindset.
- Experience with Docker and related tools (Kubernetes, GIT, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.)
- Experience working in Config management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, etc. ) is a must.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting (Nagios, ELK, PagerDuty, etc.)
- Experience with basic networking and load balancing.
- Experience designing, implementing, and testing Disaster Recovery plans during deployment failures.
- Proven ability to work and communicate with a team of highly technical software/systems engineers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are key.
- Experience in working in both the premise as well as cloud infrastructure ( AWS, GCP).
- Experience with distributed systems and related technologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills are appreciated, with a penchant for solving complex technical problems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team player with and ability to work with different multicultural teams.
- Proactive attitude on identifying problems and providing solutions.
- Creative and innovative thinking.
Qualification:
- Should have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (CS / IT) or equivalent degree from a well-known institute/university.
